Summary:1-Isonicotinoyl-2-acylhydrazines (II), which display activity against Mycobacterium tuberculosis, may be readily prepared in good yields and high purity from the reactions of isonicotinic acid hydrazide with carboxylic anhydrides in ether. The progress of the reactions can be followed opportunely by significant changes in the mid-range infrared spectra and near-infrared spectra, permitting reliable characterization.
