Summary:Two new lignanamides were isolated from fruits of Jacquemontia paniculata var. paniculata. It could be shown that these compounds represent a pair of isomeric tetrahydrofuran-type lignanamides. Jacpaniculine is characterized by a trans-trans-trans-configuration concerning the substitution of the tetrahydrofuran moiety, while isojacpaniculine presents a trans-trans-cis-configuration. The distribution pattern shows the occurrence of both compounds only in the seeds, whereas the seeds of another Jacquemontia species, J. corymbulosa, did not contain jacpaniculines.
