Summary:A new method for the preparation of chromone-3-sulfonyl urea derivatives 20 and 22, starting with the enaminones 18 and 21, chlorosulfonyl isocyanate and 4-chloroaniline is described. Beyond that, reaction of sulfonamide 8 with phenyl isocyanate furnishes the chromone-3-sulfonyl urea 17. Atempts to prepare sulfonyl ureas from the carbamates 9-12, derived from the sulfonamide 8, were not successful.
