Summary:Arylidene benzolypropionamide (II) and the benzoxazinone derivative bearing bulky substituents at position-2 (III) were prepared by the condensation of the furanone (I) with anthranilic acid. The reactions of the benzoxazinone (III) with hydrazines, aliphatic and aromatic amines, ammonia, Grignard reagents and aromatic hydrocarbons are described. The structures assigned were supported by IR and H-1-NMR spectra. The biological activities of some compounds cited in this article are reported.
