On the hydrolysis of tBu(2)Ge(OEt)(2): Supramolecular self assembly in the solid state of 2 tBu(2)Ge(OH)(2), (tBu(2)GeOH)(2)O, and H2O

The hydrolysis of tBu(2)Ge(OEt)(2) is described. Depending on the amount of water used either tBu(2)Ge(OH)(2) (1) or a mixture of the latter and (tBu(2)GeOH)(2)O (2) were obtained. A cocrystallate consisting of 2tBu(2)Ge(OH)(2), (tBu(2)GeOH)(2)O and water was the subject of a single crystal X-ray di...

Summary:The hydrolysis of tBu(2)Ge(OEt)(2) is described. Depending on the amount of water used either tBu(2)Ge(OH)(2) (1) or a mixture of the latter and (tBu(2)GeOH)(2)O (2) were obtained. A cocrystallate consisting of 2tBu(2)Ge(OH)(2), (tBu(2)GeOH)(2)O and water was the subject of a single crystal X-ray diffraction study. In the solid state the individual molecules are connected by hydrogen bonds giving rise to the formation of a polymeric double chain ribbon.
