Summary:An electromagnetic switching device for controlling a branch includes, in at least one embodiment, a housing with a length in a longitudinal direction, with a first end side, which is oriented at right angles with respect to the longitudinal direction, and with a second end side, which is opposite the first end side and is oriented at right angles with respect to the longitudinal direction; a control coil, which is arranged in the housing, for actuating an electrical switch with a first and second coil contact; and a first and second connection element, which are arranged partially in the housing. In at least one embodiment, the connection elements are capable of being displaced in the longitudinal direction relative to the housing between a first and a second end position in such a way that they are freely accessible on one of the end sides in the first end position, are freely accessible on the other of the end sides in a second end position, and are electrically connected to the associated coil contacts both in the first end position and in the second end position.
