Summary:A diaphragm valve having a first chamber and a second chamber, which is separated from the first chamber by means of a valve member which cooperates with a valve seat. A first connecting conduit situated in the vicinity of the valve seat feeds into the first chamber. To enable the diaphragm valve to be used as a pressure control valve, the valve member has a through conduit that connects the first connecting conduit to the second chamber of the pressure control valve when the pressure control valve is closed.
