Summary:The present invention generally provides apparatus and methods for removing liquid from a well. In one embodiment, a cable and subsurface safety valve assembly is used with a downhole pumping system to remove water from the well. The cable and subsurface safety valve assembly allows the cable to run from surface to a pumping unit while maintaining safety valve integrity. In another aspect, the cable and subsurface safety valve assembly may be adapted for use with an existing production tubing.
