There is provided an optical element which can be handled with ease and mounted on a supporting means for supporting it with high precision and efficiency in the course of manufacturing it, and also there is provided a method for manufacturing such an optical element as described above. A lens element is an optical element which is mounted on a supporting substrate provided with a groove for mounting the lens element. The lens element includes a handling portion , a side wall which are brought into contact with the groove for mounting use, and a lens portion . The thickness of the lens portion in the optical axis direction thereof is able to be set arbitrarily. |
