Summary:This application is based on Japanese Patent Application No. 2000-276579 filed on Sep. 12, 2000, the content of which is incorporated hereinto by reference. In an ink jet printer, ink ejection beyond the printing medium is reduced when performing printing without leaving a space along at least one of the edges of the printing medium. For this purpose, performance of data processing in the process of image processing relating to the image data of the marginless edge portion reduces a printing density of the area to lessen an ink application amount to the edge portion. For example, data processing is performed in such manner that a predetermined coefficient smaller than 1 is multiplied by the image data of the area.
