Summary:Piston-cylinder unit comprising a cylinder in which a work space is filled with a work medium and which is limited by a closure and is sealed by at least one seal. The closure is fixed axially by a positive engagement with the cylinder up to a temperature threshold and the closure can carry out an axial movement for relieving pressure above the temperature threshold. A cutting device cancels the sealing function of the seal during the axial movement of the closure for relieving pressure.
