Summary:The aim of this article is to present preliminary conclusions resulting from the analysis of materials collected as part of the memoir competition "Everyday Life in the Times of Coronavirus". In this article, we focus on how the Polish countryside was presented in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and how the pandemic affected the everyday life of its inhabitants. In the first part of the text, we present the methodological aspects of the competition conducted jointly by SGH and UMK from March 23 to July 19, 2020 and indicate the group of memoirs kept by village residents and people connected to the village through family ties selected for analysis. Then, we discuss the key themes that dominated the memoirists' accounts: 1) drawing an image of the village as a refuge and an oasis of safety; 2) emerging fears, tensions and prejudices towards visitors; 3) reevaluation of relationships in rural communities; 4) changes in the everyday functioning of the village and challenges related to the implementation of basic life activities.
