Summary:The objective of this article was to characterize the main socio-productive activities of riverine farmers in their respective Family Production Units (FFUs) in the estuarine floodplain of the Lower Tocantins river. We used as methodological instruments the semi-structured interview and the free list, applied to 16 peasants-riparians, from August to December 2020. Three typologies were constructed to characterize the LGUs: Low Diversified, Diversified, and Highly Diversified. The results obtained indicate a grand total of 41 socio-productive activities. Of these activities, 49% generate products exclusively for family consumption, 39% for consumption and commercialization, and 12% exclusively for commercialization. The fruit trees stand out for their importance in the food security of the families, considering that 71% of them produce fruit exclusively for consumption. Açaí, as a source of food and income, was considered the most important fruit for the interviewees. Regarding the typology, 50% of the LGUs are Diversified, which seek a balance between the production of açaí and other socio-productive activities; 31% are Semi-diversified, characterized by the emphasis on the production of açaí and government benefits, and 19% are Highly Diversified, prioritizing the diversification of activities and production throughout the year.
