Formation processes and magnetooptic properties of BixY3 − xFe5O12 − δ/Y3Fe5O12 − δ heterostructures

Studies have been done on the formation of Bi x Y 3 − x Fe 5 O 12 − δ /Y 3 Fe 5 O 12 − δ heterostructures on single-crystal Y 3 Fe 5 O 12 − δ substrates on annealing in a medium with varying oxygen contents. The oxygen sorption-desorption spectra have been examined together with the effects of point...

Summary:Studies have been done on the formation of Bi x Y 3 − x Fe 5 O 12 − δ /Y 3 Fe 5 O 12 − δ heterostructures on single-crystal Y 3 Fe 5 O 12 − δ substrates on annealing in a medium with varying oxygen contents. The oxygen sorption-desorption spectra have been examined together with the effects of point defects on the magnetooptic properties of these heterostructures. There is a discussion of the evolution of changes in the type and structure of the defects on annealing single-crystal Y 3 Fe 5 O 12 − δ substrates and the effects of these on the Faraday rotation. Conditions have been optimized for making homogeneous and structurally perfect diffusion layers of bismuth-substituted yttrium-iron garnet Y 1.2 Bi 1.8 Fe 5 O 12 − δ .
