Summary: | “Treat early and often” is the refrain commonly heard, as most professionals believe that children with NVLD can and will learn, but it will take repeated, continual, and specific interventions (Tsatsanis & Rourke, 2003). Evidence suggests that the earlier and more accurate the diagnosis, coupled with early intervention, the better the outcome (Martin, 2007; Thompson, 1997). This chapter offers general guiding principles regarding treating children with NVLD. In Chapter 10, we will apply those principles to both schools and home. |
