Summary:ABSTRACT This paper presents how the teaching and learning of ethics have been implemented in the context of a course entitled Professional Ethics for Translators and Interpreters, offered to students of the Translation Program at the Federal University of Uberlândia (UFU), located in Minas Gerais State, in Brazil. Through the pedagogical technique referred to as the case method, which enables reflection and possible ways of solving ethical problems, the ethical education of translators can be improved. Although it resembles the case study method used in qualitative research in Social Sciences, especially in terms of case selection and adherence to theories, the case method presented here is intended for didactic purposes.
