Promoting C-C coupling for CO reduction on CuO electrocatalysts with atomically dispersed Rh atoms

Cu 2 O doped with atomically dispersed Rh (Rh:Cu 2 O) is synthesized with a wet chemical method. It shows higher activity and faradaic efficiency at lower overpotential for reduction of CO 2 to C 2+ products, especially C 2 H 4 , than pristine Cu 2 O. We found that introducing Rh promotes CO 2 adsor...

Summary:Cu 2 O doped with atomically dispersed Rh (Rh:Cu 2 O) is synthesized with a wet chemical method. It shows higher activity and faradaic efficiency at lower overpotential for reduction of CO 2 to C 2+ products, especially C 2 H 4 , than pristine Cu 2 O. We found that introducing Rh promotes CO 2 adsorption, *CO hydrogenation to *CHO and their coupling to O*CCHO intermediates, which contributes to enhanced catalytic performance. Cu 2 O doped with atomically dispersed Rh shows higher performance for CO 2 reduction to C 2+ products due to the promoted CO 2 adsorption, *CO hydrogenation to *CHO and their coupling to O*CCHO intermediates.
