Polyoxovanadate-surfactant hybrid layered crystals were successfully synthesized as single crystals by employing a primary alkylammonium cation, octylammonium ([C 8 H 17 NH 3 ] + , C 8 NH 3 ). Two types of hybrid crystals with the formulae [C 8 H 17 NH 3 ] 6 [V 10 O 28 ]·2H 2 O (C 8 NH 3 -V 10 ) and...

Summary:Polyoxovanadate-surfactant hybrid layered crystals were successfully synthesized as single crystals by employing a primary alkylammonium cation, octylammonium ([C 8 H 17 NH 3 ] + , C 8 NH 3 ). Two types of hybrid crystals with the formulae [C 8 H 17 NH 3 ] 6 [V 10 O 28 ]·2H 2 O (C 8 NH 3 -V 10 ) and [C 8 H 17 NH 3 ] 4 Li 2 [V 10 O 28 ]·4C 2 H 5 OH·6H 2 O (C 8 NH 3 -Li-V 10 ) were obtained by different synthetic procedures. Changing the synthetic conditions enabled the precise introduction of lithium cations into the polyoxovanadate-surfactant hybrid crystals according to compositional control. C 8 NH 3 -V 10 contained a discrete [V 10 O 28 ] 6− anion, while C 8 NH 3 -Li-V 10 was composed of a [V 10 O 28 ] 6− anion associated with two lithium cations formulated as {[Li(H 2 O) 3 ] 2 [V 10 O 28 ]} 4− . The conductivities of C 8 NH 3 -V 10 and C 8 NH 3 -Li-V 10 were investigated under anhydrous conditions at intermediate temperatures. The first introduction of lithium cations into polyoxometalate-surfactant hybrid crystals was achieved according to compositional control.
