Summary:Surgeons can play a pivotal role in combating the opioid crisis. In this single institution, single arm, pre- and post-intervention study, we observed a significant decrease in the median oral morphine equivalents prescribed after prostatectomies (195 to 19) and after nephrectomies (200 to 0) without compromising patient-reported outcomes after implementing a multi-pronged behavioral intervention.
