Summary:The study of the qualitative and quantitative composition of peptides and free amino acids in commercial casein hydrolysates, produced in Russia, has provided grounds for the choice of the nutrient base in the medium for the cultivation of E. coli recombinant strains. In the newly developed medium specific endoglucanase activity is 1.5- to 1.7-fold greater than in Luria-Bertani broth ("Difco" Laboratories, USA).
