Summary:We read with interest the manuscript by Izzy and colleagues [1]. The authors carried out a retrospective study that mainly aimed to investigate the impact of cirrhotic cardiomyopathy (CCM, based on the recently revised criteria [2]) on new post-transplant cardiovascular (CV) disease outcomes. After 5 years of follow-up, patients with CCM had a 2.5-fold increase in the risk of new CV disease, and lower CV-disease-free survival (60.7% versus 85.2% in those without CCM). These novel results are of prime importance but deserve comment.
