Summary:March 30--Lawyers for drugstore chains, supermarkets and discount stores asked a U.S. District Court judge in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Friday to issue a temporary order that would prohibit Express Scripts Inc. from closing its deal to purchase Medco Health Solutions Inc. In their request for a temporary restraining order, lawyers for the National Association of Chain Drugstores, the National Association of Community Pharmacists, and nine pharmacy companies argued that the $29 billion merger should be halted on antitrust grounds because it would result in higher prescription drug prices and fewer drug choices for consumers.
