In the wake of the accident at Tokyo Electric Power Co.'s Fukushima No. 1 nculear power plant, the government gradually expanded the evacuation zone. It ended up designating an exclusion zone and planned evacuation areas that went way beyond the 8-10-kilometer-radius EPZ.
