Summary: | If Milwaukee County could present a budget that reduced the tax levy with the financial problems it is facing, Ozaukee County should be able to do the same, [Gus Wirth] said. The budget reflects [Tom Meaux]'s efforts to begin consolidating county departments around the services each one delivers. He noted that the county's Transit Department is being moved from the supervision of the Aging Services Department to that of the Highway Department. "Revenue increases are reflected in sales tax projections, jail boarding program, golf operations, social services, community programs and public health," Meaux wrote. As an example, the county's two golf courses would be required to pay $20,000 each to the county as a kind of internal tax. |
