Gooch -- who is chairman, chief executive officer and founder of the inter-dealer brokerage GFI Group, with offices in London and New York -- approached Rivera about buying the Two River Times, which was not on the market. Rivera, who owned the newspaper for 14 years, moved out of the area several years ago after his divorce from C.C. Dyer, who was publisher of the weekly newspaper from 1996 to 2001.
