As the 2003 Fran Am series winner, Ranger could have gone to Europe to race in the Renault V6 series but instead chose to run in Formula Atlantics, in the same tradition of Canada's most famous driver, Gilles Villeneuve. "My dad raced the Production Ranger 27 and so I am carrying on the tradition. It is just a coincidence that it was the number of Gilles Villeneuve," said Ranger.
