Summary: | Ananda sits in the foothills of the Himalayas, above Rishikesh, a sacred city on the Ganges. You might choose Ananda as your only destination in India, flying to New Delhi, then taking a train four hours or small plane 45 minutes north into the mountains for a week or two. Truth is, you can drive most of the way from Ananda to Kunjapuri Temple, then walk up the 308 steps. But as any hiker can attest, working for your view adds to the intensity of the emotional reward though we didn't mind riding back down in a car that Ananda provided for resort guests who didn't feel up to the hike. Ananda In the Himalayas is near Rishikesh, in the new Indian state of Uttaranchal. The spa is about a one-hour drive from the train station in Haridwar or the airport in Dehradun. Guests might take a four-hour train ride or a 45-minute flight from New Delhi. Ananda will send a car to pick you up. For resort information, go to www.anandaspa.com. |
