Summary:Allied Waste Industries, Inc. (NASDAQ: AWIN) announced today that it has completed definitive agreements for the acquisition of six collection companies serving the Chicago metropolitan area. The six companies, Acme Scavenger Service, Inc., Duke Refuse Disposal, Inc., Peter Laning Sons, Inc., Post Disposal Service, Inc., Superior Scavenger, Inc. and B&H Sanitary Disposal Corp., will be consolidated with the company's National Scavenger Service subsidiary. Allied also announced the execution of a definitive agreement for the acquisition of Environmental Development Corp. ("EDC"). EDC is located in eastern Illinois and owns and operates three landfills and two collection companies. (excerpt)
