Summary:VIENNA, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 16, 1999--Excalibur Technologies (NASDAQ:EXCA), a leading provider of knowledge retrieval and media asset management solutions, today announced that international energy company, BG plc has selected Excalibur Technologies to provide the intelligent search application central to two of its worldwide intranet initiatives. Under the agreement, BG plc will implement Excalibur RetrievalWare, an enterprise knowledge retrieval solution, to provide BG employees across all business units with a powerful intranet search capability. In addition, BG Technology is using RetrievalWare to enable employees to search across the organization's `technology knowledge base' from a unified interface. Knowledge available to BG staff via RetrievalWare will include information from Lotus Notes, the BG `Domino' intranet, scanned in paper documents, as well as relevant sources from the Internet. Ken Pratt, knowledge management project manager for BG Technology said, "Excalibur is already managing several gigabytes of information, even at this early stage, and the volume increases on a daily basis."
