Summary:Maxwell Laboratories Inc. (NASDAQ/NMS:MXWL) Tuesday announced the dedication of a new facility in Auburn, Ala., for the development of ultracapacitors for electric vehicle applications. A team of engineers and technicians, recruited earlier, have started work on the program. Maxwell Laboratories was selected several months ago by EG&G Inc., the Prime Management and Operating Contractor for the Department of Energy (DoE), for a three-year, $2 million electric vehicle capacitor development program. This followed the signing by Maxwell of a license agreement with Auburn University to develop a high-energy, low-voltage capacitor using a patented composite material developed by Auburn researchers.
