Summary: | M2 PRESSWIRE-16 October 2001-BlueLeaf Networks: Optical Society of America honors Barbara Paldus with 2001 Adolph Lomb Award (C)1994- 2001 M2 COMMUNICATIONS LTD Long Beach, Calif. -- BlueLeaf Networks founder and Chief Technology Officer, Barbara A. Paldus, has received the 2001 Adolph Lomb Award from the Optical Society of America (OSA) for her work in developing a new absorption technique called Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy (CRDS). The innovative approach is an ultra-sensitive, highly selective absolute method of detecting trace amounts of gas- phase species, a technique which is far more cost-effective than those in use today. Founded in 1916, the Optical Society of America (OSA) was organized to increase and diffuse the knowledge of optics, pure and applied; to promote the common interests of investigators of optical problems, of designers, and of users of optical apparatus of all kinds; and to encourage cooperation among them. The purposes of the Society are scientific, technical, and educational. The mission of OSA is to promote the generation, application and archiving of knowledge in optics and photonics and to disseminate this knowledge worldwide. For more information, contact the OSA at 202-223-8130, or online at www.osa.org. |
