Summary:"Violence in the name of peaceful protests harms the country's economy and blocks efforts to meet our difficult challenges," [Hesham Qandil] said, adding that the cabinet was in contact with the Shura Council, the country's temporary legislative body, to hasten the approval of a law on peaceful protests in public places. The protesters raised placards reading "The public demand purging judiciary and media," "The people demand sacking justice minister," and "No for politicizing the judiciary," accusing the judiciary of corruption and bias. Also, some opposition groups, mostly liberals and leftists, including Al-Dostour Party, Al-Wafd Party, April 6 Youth Movement and Revolutionary Youth Union, condemned the protests as "a fierce attack" against the judiciary and an Islamist attempt to control it.
