Summary: | Green News continues to highlight the range of environmental sessions that will be offered at the MINEXCHANGE 2024 SME Annual Conference & Expo in Phoenix, AZ from Feb 25-28. This month, we highlight the sessions on Abandoned Mine Lands: Considerations and Opportunities; Green Mining; and Mine Closure and Reclamation. For previous session highlights, please read the Sep, Oct and Nov 2023 editions of Green News. We hope these highlights will help you select sessions of interest in Feb from among the 13 sessions being offered by the Environmental Division. The Abandoned Mine Lands session will be chaired by Lindsey French and Mathew Chastain. Abandoned mines are an ongoing problem for communities and landowners across the US and abroad, and their reclamation has historically been underfunded. However, an influx of funding in the US has provided the opportunity to properly inventory and address many more sites in the coming decade. |
