Summary:SME's Environmental Division sponsored its annual student poster session at the MINEXCHANGE 2023 SME Annual Conference & Expo in Denver, CO on Feb. 28, 2023. Thirteen graduate and undergraduate students presented posters at the session. The enthusiasm and creativity of these students was impressive and we were encouraged to witness the ideas generated by our future workforce on mining sustainability. Topics ranged from metal recovery from recycled circuit boards and life cycle assessments for gold and nickel, to improved technologies for the revegetation of mine waste and understanding the effects of mineral weathering on tailings dam stability.
