Summary: | A new approach to recycling is underway at the University of Kentucky, combining the collaborative efforts of mining engineering students, faculty and staff, in coordination with a host of campus organizations to develop a sustainable electronics waste recycling program. The effort combines a student volunteer service project with the laboratory instruction goals of several undergraduate courses and research projects to develop a sustainable campus-wide electronics recycling program for students, run by students. The program is supported by the UK Department of Mining Engineering, Center for Applied Energy Research, Student Sustainability Council and Recycling Program, along with Lexmark International. |
