Summary:A review of headlines during the early months of the COVID-19 pandemic indicated that some libraries experienced a significant increase in ebook usage. As part of the transition to remote instruction, library services prepared to facilitate learning by promoting existing ebook collections to students and faculty members. Librarians at DCCC also explored new ebook subscriptions to support students across the range of disciplines that were previously supported by physical collections. While some libraries experienced an increase in use during this period, a more complex picture became evident when the DCCC librarians examined ebook usage during the spring, summer, and fall semesters at a granular level. The ebook usage statistics analyzed from the pre-pandemic period and during the pandemic provided the DCCC librarians with important datapoints to better understand what materials are needed to support student research and the completion of course assignments.
