Summary:David Chipperfield has made a headline-grabbing start to 2021, having been added to the elite Order of the Companions of Honour in the Queen's New Year Honours. Richard Rogers is the only other architect appointed to the 65-strong order, whose current members include David Attenborough and JK Rowling. News of the honor came as his practice, David Chipperfield Architects, revealed the first photographs of its soon-to-be-completed overhaul of Mies van der Rone's famous Neue Nationalgalerie in Berlin. Work is due to finish in April ahead of an August re-opening.
