Summary:The proliferation of small, affordable computers in accounting offices has forever changed the way accounting is practiced. And while the impact of those desktop PCs is only now becoming understood, an even larger milestone-the rapid adoption of the Internet - is shaking the accounting world yet again. A recent study shows PC penetration overall growing by 33% per year in this country. The same study shows that nearly 60% of small businesses in this country have one or more PCs. This high degree of penetration occurred in a very short period of time, and at that same adoption rate is happening again with the Internet.
