Summary:Researchers racing to build supercomputers based on theories in quantum physics are hitting their stride. Design engineers may soon be able to move forward in the construction of quantum computers using a technology that makes it possible to create quantum dots, or puddles of electrons that form quantum bits. Albert Mien-Fu Chang, a Purdue University physics professor, says 5,000 of these dots could fit on the width of a grain of sand.
