Summary:McGregor discusses the threat of a no-deal Brexit that is leading UK companies to reconsider Turkey as a sourcing destination, but there is still a lack of certainty. In March 2019, the British government published details of which imports into the UK from the European Union and countries that are part of the EU customs union would be subject to temporary tariffs in the event of a no-deal Brexit. The list includes 80 clothing lines, such as T-shirts, jeans, polo shirts, blazers and women's underwear, most of which would attract a tax of 12 %. Although it is not a member state, Turkey signed a customs union agreement with Brussels in 1995, so it would be subject to the same duties on imports and exports if the UK leaves the EU without a deal.
