Summary: | The Royal Shakespeare Company will already have come and gone with its productions of Hispanic classics by Tirso de Molina, Lope de Vega and Miguel Cervantes, but this month, by way of exchange, the Teatro Romea de Barcelona will offer up King Lear, directed by the adventurous and iconoclastic Calixto Bielto. While England's Footsbarn Traveling Theatre sometimes does its shows in a tent, like wandering troupes of yesteryear, it will set up camp in February at Hong Kong's Lyric Theatre for the city's annual arts festival, performing Perchance to Dream, a circus-like collage of five Shakespeare plays. Birth-day, which sets comic dances to Mozart music, and When Time Takes Time, concerning a small boy trying to play Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata," stretching out his trembling fingers as the dancers act out his desire. |
