Summary:The PFD models have not been widely used in Florida in recent years simply because the disease has not been prevalent. Growers who used the models found they always predicted no sprays were needed, but many growers reached the same conclusion without the model. Both PFD models were recently evaluated in Brazil and effectively reduced the number of sprays and improved timing. Alternaria brown spot has been increasingly severe in recent years in Florida.
