Summary:Gee discusses how legislative efforts evolve in time of great change for American Urological Association (AUA). In response to the evolution in urologic practice, AUA is continually expanding its involvement in health policy, government affairs, and practice management, as shown by the participation of both AUA and the American Association of Clinical Urologists in the recent Joint Advocacy Conference in Washington. The opening of their Capitol Hill office allows AUA staff to work more closely with congressional committees and staff as well as other specialties and coalitions. Major legislative priorities in 2006 are presented.
