Summary: | Colleges are changing the way they educate students to enter the accounting profession. This article reports a variety of efforts by colleges to update and improve the education of accountants. All accounting programs in Ohio were surveyed to determine what they require for accounting majors, including the business skills and the general education required by the Accountancy Board of Ohio and the American Assembly of Collegiate Schools of Business. There are many changes in the requirements for accounting graduates and the way their courses are taught. Results are reported for 37 bachelor's programs and 11 master's programs that have a major or concentration in accounting or taxation. |
