Summary:For coated paper producers, increasingly stringent quality criteria, faster machine speeds, wider coaters, and more varied grade mixes are turning automatic profiling from a luxury into a necessity. In the past 2 years, ABB Process Automation has installed 5 blade coater profiling systems, called the AccuRay CoatWeight Profiler. All of the mills that installed the coat-weight profiler system desired more consistent quality, but secondary system justifications have varied. All sites have experienced trouble-free, on-time startup.
