Summary: | Christmas Day was observed without our seeing snow and Christmas trees. We had to be contented to gaze at the burning sand and the tall, slender cocoanut trees swaying in the light tropic breeze. Christmas morning started off with late reveille (the big event of the day). Breakfast followed, each man getting all the hash he wanted. The first event was a boat race between, the First and Third Divisions of the ship. The distance was three miles. |
