Summary: | The internal audit department of the Clorox Co. is staffed on a rotating basis. The focus of internal audits at Clorox is operations. To help focus their efforts, the internal audit department first sent out a survey to their identified customers asking for feedback on what they really wanted from the internal audit department. To help both the audit staff and the operations staff, the internal audit department came up with documents they call "Internal Control Workbooks." Reorienting their internal audit department has benefited Clorox internal auditing by establishing a continuous improvement framework that helps to shape the culture of the department and provides structure for interactions between internal auditors and their clients. Perhaps the most important benefit to all parties concerned is that audit differences have essentially disappeared. |
