Summary: | With a standing ovation from about 1,200 attendees at the 18th Annual ABA Regulatory Compliance Conference, Charles "Chuck" Lewis, CRCM, president of UMB Consulting Services in Kansas City, Mo., accepted the ABA Compliance Executive Committee's 2004 Distinguished Service Award at the Hyatt Regency Chicago June 7. During his acceptance speech, Mr. Lewis thanked his peers for the honor. He was humbled to be mentioned in the same category as previous Distinguished Service Award winners. (See page 31). He also thanked the people he has hired to support him through his career. According to Mr. Lewis, the only way to be successful in bank compliance is to "hire good people," especially when you consider that he spends 100-plus days a year out of the office helping compliance officers succeed. |
