Summary:Together with 10 of his colleagues from the Office of Statistical Control, he was hired by Henry Ford II to assist in reforming and modernizing Ford Motor Co. These so-called "whiz kids" demonstrably improved the company's administration, planning, efficiency and market analysis. Service chiefs felt cut off, at least in part, from Congress and the White House. Since only a few brainy civilians- McNamara's imported version of the whiz kids-actually understood systems analysis, uniformed staffs considered their influence diminished.
