Summary:Hernandez Griso et al present an observational, retrospective, descriptive study to improve quality and safety in the preparation of parenteral cancer drugs by the implementation of a technological system that enables real time traceability and quality control. The study was conducted in the Pharmaceutical Oncology Unit of a third level hospital with a duration of 30 months (Oct 2011-Mar 2014). Results showed that the implementation of the technological system enabled the detection of 693 errors, 583 (84.1%) by gravimetry and 110 (15.9%) by data-matrix reading. The global error rates were 31.1 and 8.6 PE x 1,000 preparations, respectively.
